Specialty Pharmacy Drug Program
In response to your valued feedback, the Health Plan is taking steps to control skyrocketing pharmaceutical costs by expanding our Specialty Pharmacy Drug Program, effective November 1, 2005. Through a collaborative arrangement with select Pharmacy Vendors (CuraScript, Accredo/Nova Factor and TapCare Pharmacy Solutions), the Health Plan is able to purchase certain drugs (see Quick Reference Sheet below for the list of drugs) at discounted rates and pass the savings on to Members, employers and Participating Physicians.
This new program allows Participating Physicians two options: 1) continue to buy and bill certain medications (listed as "voluntary" in the documents linked below) as usual at new contracted rates, or 2) utilize the Specialty Pharmacy Drug Program. Utilization of the Pharmacy Drug Program eliminates your need to purchase these drugs, thereby reducing your out-of-pocket expenses as well as eliminating the need for you to submit medication claims to the Health Plan.
