The Health Plan has taken steps to control skyrocketing pharmaceutical costs by expanding our Specialty Pharmacy Drug Program. Through a collaborative arrangement with select pharmacy vendors (CuraScript, Accredo/Nova Factor and TapCare Pharmacy Solutions), the Health Plan is able to purchase certain drugs (see Quick Reference Sheet below for the list of drugs) at discounted rates and pass the savings on to members, employers and participating physicians.
This new program allows participating physicians two options: 1) continue to “buy and bill” certain medications (listed as "voluntary" in the documents linked below) as usual at new contracted rates, or 2) use the Specialty Pharmacy Drug Program. Use of the Specialty Pharmacy Drug Program eliminates your need to purchase these drugs, thereby reducing your out-of-pocket expenses and eliminating the need for you to submit medication claims to the Health Plan.
