Richard J. Gilfillan, M.D.

Richard J. Gilfillan, M.D., is president and CEO of Geisinger Health Plan and Geisinger Indemnity Insurance Company.
Gilfillan received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He completed a family practice residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He also earned an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Gilfillan joined the Health Plan in July 2005. He has more than 20 years of experience in general management for managed care organizations, including network, utilization, quality and cost management, as well as marketing and sales.
In addition to his duties at the Health Plan, Gilfillan is also the president of Geisinger Health System Insurance Operations.
