Vice President, Chief Medical Officer
Duane Davis, M.D., is vice president, chief medical officer of the Health Plan. His responsibilities include continuous quality improvement of clinical programs, medical management activities (including preventive health programs, health management programs and outcomes research), provider network management, pharmacy services, Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) compliance and accreditation activities.
Davis also provides leadership and guidance to the regional and assistant medical directors for clinical/medical management issues.
A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Davis completed his residency at Hahnemann University School of Medicine, in Philadelphia, and in 1978, joined Geisinger. Davis is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology and still maintains a clinical practice.
He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology, and clinical professor of medicine at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine, in Philadelphia. His career-long interest in clinical quality improvement and medical education has included participation at the hospital, state and national levels.
Davis is a senior reviewer for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a member of the American Association of Health Plans (AAHP) Medical Directors Division and serves on the Leadership Council of the AAHP Committee on Quality Health Care. He is also a member of the American College of Physician Executives and the National Association of Managed Care Physicians.
