DANVILLE, PA –Geisinger Health Plan (GHP) was selected by the Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund (PEBTF) to provide a health plan option to current and retired state employees in an 18 counties service area in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The counties include: Bradford, Carbon, Centre, Clinton, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne and Wyoming.

“We are happy to be selected by PEBTF to offer our HMO to state employees and retirees,” said Joseph Haddock, Geisinger Health Plan’s vice president of sales. “Geisinger Health Plan will bring the same quality, value and innovation to PEBTF that we have been nationally recognized for.”

An open enrollment period will be held in October for employees and retirees. Additional information on their plan choices will be sent at that time.

The Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund, established in 1988, administers health care benefits to approximately 80,000 eligible Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employees. The PEBTF is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of both Commonwealth and Union representatives. It also administers health care benefits, on behalf of the commonwealth, to approximately 20,000 non-Medicare eligible retirees and 42,000 Medicare eligible retirees and their dependents.
