GHP names new Chief Financial Officer
DANVILLE, PA George Schneider has been named chief financial officer for Geisinger Health Plan. Schneider brings more than 34 years of health-care provider and insurance experience
Schneider has an extensive background in health care, most recently as the chief financial officer for Mercy Health Plans in St. Louis, MO. In that role, he was responsible for accounting, billing and collections, forecasting and budgeting, underwriting, informatics, actuarial services, provider contracting, and network management.
Prior to Mercy Health Plans, Schneider held executive positions at Medimetrix, a health-care strategy consulting firm, and several health plans including American Medical Plans, OSF Health Plans, AIG’s managed care division, Group Health Plan of Missouri, Physicians Health Services of Connecticut and Health America.
Before working in the insurance industry, Schneider held financial roles in the hospital industry. In addition, he served as a Medicare auditor with Indiana Blue Cross.
He is a 1976 graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor of science in accounting. He also received a CPA certification in 1982. Schneider will be relocating to Danville.
