Geisinger Health Plan now offers health insurance through the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
DANVILLE, PA Geisinger Health Plan (GHP) now offers health insurance through the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in 40 counties in Pennsylvania. This means that children applying for or enrolled in CHIP can receive their coverage through GHP.
“Children and Geisinger go hand in hand. And CHIP is a good fit for the Health Plan,” says Jean Haynes, president and CEO of Geisinger Health Plan. “Geisinger Health Plan has been offering quality care to Pennsylvania residents for 25 years. We are thrilled to offer this same quality to children enrolled in CHIP.”
CHIP is Pennsylvania’s health insurance program to cover all uninsured kids and teens up to age 19 who are not eligible for Medical Assistance. Benefits include hospital care, doctor visits, prescription drugs, preventive services including immunizations, dental and eye care, health education and screenings, and emergency care. No family makes too much for CHIP because there are no income limits. For most families, CHIP is free, with no co-pays or monthly premiums.
“We believe the foundation to a successful life starts with good health care,” states Geisinger Health Plan Chief Medical Officer, Duane E. Davis, M.D.. “Geisinger Health Plan has always represented quality health care. This translates into healthier members.”
